Call of Duty: WWII is one of the most popular games in the series, was the game that decided to go back to its fundamental principles. The game is set in the dirty and cruel environment of World War II, where players had to lead a very tough but very realistic and very tactical campaign through the 1st Infantry Division—experiencing the horrible D-Day landing, killing the enemies in their bunkers with bolt-action rifles, and as a new feature in the series, squad-based health regeneration via medkits. What had been missing in previous installments was finally brought back to life in multiplayer.

All of these included the re-introduction of classic “Battlegrounds” combat with different dynamics, like slower movement, iron-sight-heavy gunplay, and a new “Divisions” system (Infantry, Airborne, Armored, etc.), replacing create-a-class with role-specific loadouts. Along with this, the War Mode provided a different kind of fun with the objective-driven battles (such as constructing bridges under enemy fire) that were close to what had happened in the past.

At the same time, the experience of the players was the most terrifying in Nazi Zombies; it was a co-op, an absolute immersion in the strange and the unexplained world of the occult, as it offered more and more puzzles and took inspiration only from the dark side of the horror genre. All these until now were available through the use of the authentic weapons.
